General Chuck Yeager
General Chuck Yeager,
USAF (ret.) was at Mojave Airport today with Duane Doyle, owner of two
beautiful
warbirds, a North American P-51 Mustang “Red Dog XII,” which Yeager was
flying and a North American T-28 Trojan, painted in U.S. Navy colors.
Students from the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards
came to Mojave Airport to experience the thrill of flying in vintage
piston engine aircraft.
Duane
Doyle keeps his pristine aircraft at Livermore, CA and has been invited
to be part of the airshow at Edwards AFB this weekend. Gen. Yeager and
his wife, Victoria arrived in the WWII era P-51 Mustang and Doyle
flew the T-28. Six lucky students, four USAF, one U.S. Navy and
one foreign exchange student from France had the pleasure of flying with
legendary fighter pilot Gen. Chuck Yeager through the beautiful blue
Mojave skies Thursday (10-20-05) afternoon.
One student brought
his George W. Bush action figure and asked the
General to hold it up for a photo! The P-51 and T-28 departed Mojave
Airport at 5:45 p.m. and returned to
Edwards AFB. They will be on display during the two day air show at
Edwards AFB, October 22 & 23, 2005.
