Nemesis and Eaglesoft bring NXT to Flight Simulator

Airplane sets speed record

SPECIAL TO THE DESERT NEWS, August 07, 2008

MOJAVE — If you’ve ever wanted to fly Jon and Pat Sharps’ Nemesis NXT, your time is coming — at least on a computer!

Nemesis Air Racing, based at Mojave Airport/Spaceport, announced it has signed  an exclusive partnership with Eaglesoft Development Group to develop an add-on enhancement to the Microsoft Flight Simulator platform featuring the Nemesis NXT.

The announcement came after the NXT set another speed record last week at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture 2008 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Flying at a bit over 356 mph, pilot/designer/builder Jon Sharp set a world record for land airplanes with a takeoff weight of 1,102 to 2,205 lbs. Sharp beat the previous record of 331 mph.

Software announcement
The announcement marks the very first time a kit aircraft of this caliber has been placed into a flight simulator, said Patricia Sharp of Nemesis Air Racing.

Owen Hewitt of Eaglesoft spearheaded the project, Sharp said. He is currently a Microsoft® MVP for Flight Simulator and has been creating add-on aircraft for Microsoft platform since 2001. His expertise is in three-D model creation, texturing and animation, and sound package development. Some of his most notable creations include the FSD T-38, the Eaglesoft Piper Twin Comanche and soon the Nemesis NXT.

Eaglesoft is a talented team of dedicated designers, programmers, and artists grouped together to provide premium quality Microsoft Flight Simulator add-on aircraft at affordable prices. Starting in 2002 under the direction of Ronald Hamilton, president and CEO of Eaglesoft, the team has and continues to create some of the most exciting add-ons in the third-party market for Flight Simulator. “Stay tuned for the release of the Nemesis NXT simulator.,” Sharp said.

Record-setter
Adding Nemesis to Flight Simulator brings a record-setting team to the popular simulator. During the 1990s, Sharp set 16 world speed records in the original Nemesis, and won 47 of 51 races he entered. That airplane is now on display at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.

With the NXT, Sharp set three previous records at the National Championship Air Races in Reno.

NEMESIS, the Mojave-based record-setting race plane, will be available to computer pilots soon on Microsoft Flight Simulator, according to an announcement last week from Jon Sharp, who designed the airplane that’s been setting records at AirVenture 2008 in Oshkosh. Sharp posed with two unidentified officials of Eaglesoft Development Group, which will develop an add-on enhancement to the Microsoft Flight Simulator platform featuring the Nemesis NXT.
